I'm graduating! :D

It's been so long since I blogged. I have so much to share but just don't have the time to blog bout it! But this is something I really want to share and instead of emailing one by one or repeating my story again and again, I decided to blog so all can read. :)

I finally got my final results yesterday. It would determine whether I would be able to graduate together with all my other batch mates. It was scary. I know, I should trust and have faith in God, that I only need to do my best, and He'd do the rest, even though my best isn't enough. But there were times when I became too 'overconfident'/'trust God too much'..that when I expected to pass, I failed. And I was miserable. I felt let down by God. I didn't understand why God allowed me to be 'assured by Him', but yet, failed me in the end. Since then, I was afraid to 'trust God'. The thought of failing is terrible. I would have to resit the paper (a harder paper..a lonely journey, a torture). And I would only have bout a week to study for the resit - not enough! Besides, there's just too much to study. I can't do it. The thought of it made me give up! Then, I'd fail my resit, and get held back in uni for another year, meaning I would only graduate next year. I couldn't imagine me going thru that.

Recently, I've been very much encouraged by my church members. Seeing God working daily, made being a Christian interesting. Gone were the days when everyday was mundane. I feel so unworthy that God still loves me and shows it even when I don't spend time with Him. Inspires me to take my relationship with God to the next level as it's been stagnant for quite a while now. Just recently I decided to learn to trust God - the next level of trust. Wasn't easy. But I already see God working. He's not only blessing me with the ability to trust and let go, He's blessing me with opportunities too. That's when my faith is put to the test.

1 after another, opportunities came - to trust and rely on God. And 1 of it, was for my results. I didn't know exactly what to do. I didn't want to assume I'd pass/fail. Instead, I practiced what I learnt - to pray, to present my request to God, to focus on my relationship with Him, and relationship with His people..the rest, He'd settle. It wasn't easy.

There's this thing bout God and I. EVERYTHING that comes to my mind, it won't happen. He tends to surprise me all the time. You see, I think a lot. So I tend to imagine how things would be. And since I was a kid, every time I thought bout how it'd be, it would NEVER be. So before getting my results, I imagined how things would be.

1. I'm gonna take my results, open it, and find out I passed and I'd be so filled with joy and humility yada yada. Like what happened before..

Then I thought..now, that's definitely not gonna happen since I thought bout it. So I thought..oh no.

2. I'm gonna open my results, I failed. Then I'd be so miserable, I can't imagine.

Now, that's not gonna happen too. Then I thought. Then, how would things be since I can't think of anything else? True enough, none of that happened. Instead of going to the office to get our results on Friday (which is the norm ever since year 1), we were told to gather in the lecture hall. Instead of us going to the results, the results came to us. Instead of releasing the results 1 by 1, our associate dean announced it. How's that possible? Well..he only needed to say it in 1 sentence. 'You ALL passed'. AH! The class let out a scream. That was the main thing we needed to know. And that's to everyone's surprise too cuz, never in history, the whole batch passed in the 1st try! I..was stunned. There's just something bout God..He never fail to amaze me.

Then later I found out why the whole class passed. Cuz someone prayed for it. Someone new to the faith. I mean, who would pray for such a thing? It's impossible! But God was right. We need only to have a lil faith, and ask. If it is according to His will, it would happen. She was so filled with joy bout what happened, as she was talking to a friend and I, she couldn't help but to show her excitement, joy, and tears. Overjoyed - was what described her. Witnessing how God is working in her life touched me. I was speechless. I could only smile. I almost teared seeing how joyful she is now. I thank God for working in her and bringing her to Himself.

So here it is, an end to my degree. 4 years being in B107 (batch), IMU (uni). This batch is like no other. The unity, the people. The amount of politics is surprisingly, low. There's no division. There's no war. Even the lecturers exceptionally like this batch. I'm proud to be in this batch. B107 - would leave a mark in IMU and in each one of us, I believe.

I thank God for the many answers to my prayers. For granting me great friends, a journey that left me in awe. 1 that He never failed to leave me alone. Through it all, He brought me. Words can't really express how things are right now. It was basically, a truly happy ending, for all. And this, was how it should be.. :)

I would like to say thank you to..

- My church members - Jennifer, Billie, Yoke Kheng, Jessica, Laura, Jason, Uncle Hok Seng, Aunty Chooi Kuan, Benson, Phye Aun, Ming Han, Jia Ling etc, for supporting me in prayer and for the encouragement. It was what made the difference!

- Elaine - For all those late nights studying together, supporting each other thru each exam, with comfort, encouragement and prayers. What would I do without you?!

- Grace, Natalie, Jasmine, Elyn, Sin Yee - for being my girls' gang! Uni is fun because of yall! JJGENES yo! Thanks for having me to be part of yall. Thanks for the support, the sharing, for yall. <3

- Benson - for the never ending, never failing support, encouragement, prayers, and love. Thanks for persevering with me, tolerating my unstable emotions and temper, for always being there, especially when I needed you most. - And of course, God. Without Him, I wouldn't be here in the first place. I wouldn't have made it thru. Who blessed me with the people around me who helped me thru, who was my source of love, joy, peace, comfort, guidance, encouragement, wisdom, understanding, strength, and everything I needed.

I'm finally..graduating! :)

The lifesaving station..

On a dangerous seacoast where shipwrecks often occur there was a once a crude little life-saving station. The building was just a hut, and there was only one boat, but the few devoted members kept a constant watch over the sea, and with no thought for themselves, they went out day or night tirelessly searching for the lost.

Many lives were saved by this wonderful little station, so that it became famous. Some of those who were saved, and various others in the surrounding areas, wanted to become associated with the station and give of their time and money and effort for the support of its work. New boats were bought and new crews were trained. The little life-saving station grew.

Some of the new members of the life-saving station were unhappy that the building was so crude and so poorly equipped. They felt that a more comfortable place should be provided as the first refuge of those saved from the sea.

So they replaced the emergency cots with beds and put better furniture in an enlarged building. Now the life-saving station became a popular gathering place for its members, and they re-decorated it beautifully and furnished it as a sort of club.

Less of the members were now interested in going to sea on life-saving missions, so they hired life boat crews to do this work.

The mission of life-saving was still given lip-service but most were too busy or lacked the necessary commitment to take part in the life-saving activities personally.

About this time a large ship was wrecked off the coast, and the hired crews brought in boat loads of cold, wet, and half-drowned people.

They were dirty and sick, and some of them had black skin, and some spoke a strange language, and the beautiful new club was considerably messed up. So the property committee immediately had a shower house built outside the club where victims of shipwreck could be cleaned up before coming inside.

At the next meeting, there was a split in the club membership. Most of the members wanted to stop the club's life-saving activities as being unpleasant and a hindrance to the normal life pattern of the club.

But some members insisted that life-saving was their primary purpose and pointed out that they were still called a life-saving station. But they were finally voted down and told that if they wanted to save the life of all the various kinds of people who were shipwrecked in those waters, they could begin their own life-saving station down the coast. They did.

As the years went by, the new station experienced the same changes that had occurred in the old. They evolved into a club and yet another life-saving station was founded.

If you visit the seacoast today you will find a number of exclusive clubs along that shore. Shipwrecks are still frequent in those waters, only now most of the people drown.

Few of us noticed that amazingly huge hat and were pretty fascinated by it..

Since grace and i were sitting side by side, we decided to order different dishes and share so that we can try 2 different dishes.

Quite like the food. Very healthy, enjoyed the unique taste and price’s around less than RM20. good stuff!

We were finishing our food and were chatting, suddenly, some waiters carrying the big Mexican hat we were laughing bout before, were walking towards our direction. Jas saw and burst out in laughter cuz she was excited where they were going to bring it to. It was our chance to take a closer look. Her eyes followed the hat, laughing. Her laughed stopped as soon as the hat landed on her head. Lol.

They brought out a lil cake and ice cream, and the quiche grace and her mum made, and together with us, sang a very loud happy b’day song.

had it at the bukit jalil park. nice place. big land, many ponds, nice photoshoot spots. good place for relaxation, a time with nature, peaceful and quiet. clean, beautiful, nice place to just have a slow walk too. but, i'd prefer if it had more trees for more shade, as the sun here in KL is blazing! it was here also, joseph and jamie had their pre-wedding photoshoot.

we arrived early in the morning. 8am?

after a lil prep, we started with our group pictures. our class of bout 110 people were divided into our respective groups..where our groups are basically the usual gang we stick with in and outta class. so, here's mine! <3

we were formed during the 1st year of our degree.

we never fail to celebrate birthdays together since.

it was them i hang out with before, during and after class.

this was the group of friends i prayed for before i came into uni.

they were, is, and will be..an answer to my prayer. a blessing to me.

we then proceeded to taking our individual pictures. since i'm gonna show them off, i shall talk a lil bout them aite? :) alphabetical order, it is.

elaine aka laine

it was the 1st day of school at imu.

lil did we know, we ended up being very close. she's the only one in class that stays damn near me, at TTDI too! we traveled by LRT together, car pooled, and it was then that we started talking. a lot.

2nd sem, i shifted into vista. 3 storeys above her. gone! we hang out everyday! had meals together, studied together, did our assignments, stayed up through the night, cried, laughed, and even slept together! :) i remember those nights when we studied the night before exams..stayed up thru the night and only sleeping when the sun was rising. it was torture..but we held on to each other and supported each other. also, we had bible study together, and we shared a lot - our joy, problems, frustration, food (hee!), and everything possible.

it was beautiful. i miss it. :( (jann has shifted out of vista since may 2010 - after 2 yrs of staying there and practically living with laine..)

elyn aka ebi

in the beginning, there were 2 quiet girls always with natty. 1 was ebi. the other was me. both of us never talked to each other. nat would always be in the middle. i always knew her as the other girl with nat. :)

soon we started talking. and realized we both liked dancing. at that time, both of us were also going to urban groove for trainings!

together, we practiced dance, taught each other routines, and even choreographed lil routines for performances! those were the days.. (we're both now rotten!)

she's one of the top in class, hence being the smartest among us. a shopaholic! hee.

grace aka gracie

her name comes right before mine in our class' name list. making us partners for almost all our activities/group/lab work. she was once pretty afraid of me, saying i gave out that kindda vibe. however, after getting to know me, she said i'm not scary anymore. lol. once a very quiet, gentle lil girl..cuz she's hang out with me too much, she's starting to know how to be quite naughty, firm and bully others. lol.

we started getting close when we were often partners during lab work during the 1st few semesters. cuz lab work has a lot of waiting to do, we started chatting a lot. from surface things to more personal stuff. we got pretty close and since then, started to share more. :)

thru her, i met her brother, hsing..whom i got pretty close to. not forgetting aarony, her church friend, and shimron, my kindergarten long lost friend! (inside joke) her parents are really nice people too! always inviting us over for food at least once a year. her dad, a pastor, is someone i look up to, and sometimes, i do approach him for advice and viewpoints. :)

tho we ain't the closest of friends, i somehow feel that we could click. or, maybe the right way to put it is, she's someone i hold closely to my heart. i'm always excited to hang out/catch up with her when our gang meets up. saddens me when she's unable to come along.

gal, thank you for opening up to me at times and sharing stuff with me. i'm glad we could talk. just know that if u need anything at all, i'm here. anytime. :)

jasmine aka jas

her name comes right after mine in the name list, hence, like grace, we were always in the same group. once didn't dare to talk to me, now, fearless. :)

jas may seem quiet, gentle, easily bullied and taken advantage of. but don't judge the book by its cover. she's firmer than she looks, and she never allows herself to be taken advantage of. sometimes i think she's firmer in not allowing others to climb over her head than i am. gosh. it's a good thing. :)

together with grace and i, we chose the same research project hence spending the whole sem 7 together. was fun travelling with them, staying with them, and doing everything else with them. :)

kindda sad tho, sem 8, i won't be able to see jas and grace anymore, like how i used to be able to this whole sem (the others are in other groups so it was always just the 3 of us..) jas and grace, however, got the same hospital for sem 8! ah jealous! :( oh! jas and grace are like..twins. lol. they have the same everything - hair styles, fashion taste, bags, characters, etc! it's cute, really. haha.

mogan aka mog

the only indian boy in my batch. 1st met him in the LRT, when laine and i was heading home during the 1st few days in imu. somehow, we started talking a lot, maybe cuz we traveled together, and somehow, found a lot in common.

we started sharing a lot. everyday there weren't enough time for us to talk. for hours, we would keep talking. text, phone, chat. then, he started sitting beside me in class and everyone thought we were together! hehe!

then, when i shifted to vista, he would come over pretty often and we'd talk all night, till the sun rises. ah those were the days! we just kept talking. bout, everything possible. i like how close we were. he was someone i could turn to. if something were to happen to me, he would be the 1st to appear right at my door. even if i told him i won't open the door. he stayed outside and waited till i opened it..

mog is 1 friend who really sayang, takes care, and is protective over me. i realized this recently. i'm touched, to know i have such a friend. its like, i know that if any guy treat me bad, he'd be there to support me.

i'm proud to know i have him. it's a mixture of feelings..of comfort, confidence, security, assurance, and joy, to know i have him. thank u, mog. :)

natalie aka natty

met her randomly on the 1st day of uni. we clicked, started chatting. found out she's from bandar utama! we were pretty glad to find each other cuz we stayed so near! she even offered me a lift back home on the 1st day! :)

bubbly and cute lil girl. awesome in directions. shopaholic, indeed! we were pretty close at one stage till she invited me over to her place for a sleepover. her 1st. :) she was so cute, she even made a sticky note and stick it on her wall, welcoming me! :) i miss those times.

got to know her elder bro and he invited us for the alpha course. together, we are attending it now. i'm glad she's putting the effort to know more bout jesus and to do something bout her spiritual walk with Him. it's my prayer that she would know how much He loves her, how real He is, and who He really is. :)

wishing we were as close as before..

sin yee

i still remember, on the 1st day of uni, she was one of my 1st few friends. it was with her and some other girls..we formed a lil click. however, as the days go by, i sortta found myself in another click instead.

years later, however, we're in the same click again. :) she recently joined our 'clan'. haha. and i must admit, we hardly talk and i don't know much bout her. another bubbly girl, she is. :)

but for sem 8, we're in the same hospital..for 11 weeks! a group of bout 10 of us was assigned there, which include mogan too. the only 2 people i talk to outta the whole group. so looks like there's lots of opportunities to get to know her better. :)

of course, these are not all that i've ever been close to in uni. but it's enough for now eh? :)

so anyway, back to the photoshoot...after the individual pictures, work was done! hence, fun time! :)

he was going to NZ with his gal..jo ni..~~for a holiday~~ to do their sem 7 research project (while mine's at s'ban hospital..sobs!). he was gonna be away for bout 3 months..so we, his great friends, decided to throw him a farewell party. aw how sweet of us! :) nothing much. just dinner and fellowship at decanter at bukit damansara.

so happened, it was jas, grace and my presentation day at school and we wore the same thing!

great minds think alike. :)

[3.7.2010] joseph & jamie's wedding

so, after all the hard work we had..preparing the pictures, videos and hand-making the lil welcome/thank-you-for-coming cards..the day arrived!

i was helping out at the register for both the wedding ceremony and the dinner.

kindda sad cuz this was the 1st wedding i attended that i didn't get to be in the ceremony. yes i was there, but i was outside. people kept coming in, eventho the ceremony was already halfway through, and i had to take care of the big box of ang pows. ;) by the time i was free to go inside, i couldn't as it was too full. :( the only glimpse i had of the ceremony was....

when the service ended and they walked out.. -.-

but it's ok! it was an honor to be able to help out during the wedding. :) anyway, more pictures, here, and here.

weddings. i always loved. brings smiles and tears of joy..to see someone you care for finally finding a person who loves them and to love, for the rest of their lives. it's the sweetest thing, the loveliest. it's, special. beautiful. may this bond grow stronger, with god in between the both of you.

i'm too lazy to edit, so here's the report i wrote for my electives that i handed in to uni. i hope i passed! :D hee. enjoy! *evil laughter*

Introduction

When it was announced that we were able to choose our own elective topic, and after much research and thoughts, I’ve decided, together with a friend, to attach ourselves to an early intervention programme centre (Bridges EIP Centre).

It is a non-profit teaching centre that helps children with learning disabilities (disorders or syndromes which affects a child's learning curve or development) to become more self-reliant. The centre is open to children below six years. They are taught on a one-on-one basis by a trained teacher, assisted by volunteers, which includes people like us.

Our objectives were to:

Be attached as volunteers to an early intervention programme centre that helps children with learning disabilities.
Have hands-on experience teaching children with learning disabilities.
Learn about the most common disorders or syndromes which affect a child's learning curve or development.
Observe the behaviors of children with learning disabilities.
Learn of ways to handle and discipline children with learning disabilities.
Know briefly the possible causes of these learning disabilities.

Project implementation

The early intervention programme (EIP) believes that support and help given at the earliest possible age when a disability is diagnosed or suspected gives the child opportunity to develop to full potential. With this, parents are strongly advised to send in their children for such programmes as soon as possible if needed.

The programme is a structured educational programme that includes fun activities that incorporates all the main areas of a child's development. Before a child enters the programme, he/she is assessed and the parents interviewed. With this, an individualized education plan is drawn. The children are then started on the programme and are to attend sessions twice a week, each being about three hours. For every session, time is set apart for individual work and group activities respectively. Individual work is to ensure one-on-one attention from teacher to the child, and the teaching level and speed is based on the child’s ability to catch up. Group work, on the other hand, encourages social interaction. Parents are also advised to accompany the child throughout the session. Reason being is that the parent would be able to see how and what have been taught to the child, hence being able to do follow ups at home. Follow ups are essential as twice a week sessions would not be able to help the child significantly. Whatever that has been practiced during the sessions, has to be practiced likewise at home. Without this follow up, the sessions may be as good as nothing.

My friend and I went to the centre for five weeks, during which two different sessions (morning session and afternoon session) would be carried out for different children each day. For the first few days we were there, we observed how the sessions were done. First, when the child arrived, the one-on-one session is carried out. A particular teacher who has already planned out the syllabus for the day for that particular child would teach the child specific basics. Such an example would be, the child is given two wooden sticks and is taught to hit it on each other to make sounds. This teaches the child to concentrate, and to be able to move different hands at different times at different directions. It teaches coordination and it involves touch, visual, hearing, and physical movements. Children with learning disabilities do not pick things up by themselves, as what normal children would. They have to be taught, from the most natural things like how to move the leg forward to take a step, or how to sit down without falling backwards. After the one-on-one teaching session, the children would gather together for ‘language time’. Fun activities would be done to teach them new words. Example, a picnic is carried out to teach them words like plate, cup, fruits etc.

Then, it would be ‘gross motor’. This is when the children are required to go through a certain ‘obstacle course’ where they will step on things with different textures and feel, some being sharper, or softer, or higher. This involves touch receptors, helping them to be sensitive to touch, and to be exposed to different physical touch. A break is then given to them after that where they would sit around a table, eat their snacks and socialize. After that, it would be craft time. They would be allowed to make crafts, draw, paint, color, play with plastercine etc. Lastly, there would be a singing session, where they would learn new songs and sing old songs, doing actions along with them. This is usually the most enjoyable and favorite session of all. The entire session would end with a goodbye song where the children would greet each other goodbye before leaving.

After spending two days observing, we stepped in as teachers. By having this hands-on experience, we had the chance to learn how to deal with children in general, like how to discipline them, and also to deal with them as children with learning difficulties. We got to know the different cases of each child, what are their medical problems, what may be the causes, how are their behaviors and how they differ from each other (each was very different from another, although they may have the same condition).

There were two medical conditions that were most common among the children in the centre. Autism and down syndrome. Autism affects information processing in the brain by altering the connection and organizing of nerve cells and their synapses. However, it is not well known how this can happen. Children with autism look normal but they usually keep to themselves, being in a world of their own (hence having a very short attention span) and are not aware of their surroundings. Many cannot communicate without special help. They are also especially sensitive to their senses such as touch, which also meant that they may feel uncomfortable if one tries to hug them. They may also react differently to their surroundings, being sensitive to normal sounds (example the fan) until it makes them cry. Autism is usually first diagnosed in early childhood (before three years old), when parents noticed weird behaviors of their child. Common signs and symptoms of autism involve impaired communication, social interactions and repetitive behaviors. The cause of autism is unknown, it lasts a lifetime, and has no cure. However, these days, there exist treatments which may be able to increase their quality of life. These involve behavior, occupational and communication therapies and medicines to control symptoms.

Theoretically, autism is genetic. However, this is not observed in the children I have seen (as they had no family history of autism). There was one particular case, where the parents suspect it may have been caused by childhood vaccines. This has also been widely mentioned in books and can be widely found in the internet. The parents said that their child was perfectly normal, until he was given a vaccine. It was after then, they saw significant changes, and the child was then diagnosed with autism. What was even more surprising was that, that was not the only case. There were many similar cases round the world. Books of testimonies were even compiled, where parents claimed that childhood vaccines were causing autism to some children. However, this is not scientifically proven yet. It is also believed and it can be observed that food may also worsen the condition of autism children. They tend to have a lot of allergies, and when foods they are allergic to (such as gluten (a wheat protein) and casein (a milk protein)) are given to them, their condition worsens significantly. It is believed that these food proteins are broken down into smaller proteins (peptides) that act like narcotics in autism children, which worsen the behavioral changes of autism. However, this, like the vaccines, is not scientifically proven yet. When I heard about this, I thought it was very interesting to go into research in these areas since I would soon be a pharmacist (especially relevant when it comes to vaccines).

Down syndrome is similar to autism in the sense that the child has a lower than average cognitive ability, with learning difficulties. Down syndrome is a set of mental and physical symptoms that is caused by having an extra copy of chromosome (hence, it is also known as trisomy). Those with down syndrome has a slower mental and physical development. For most cases, they would also have heart disease (a hole in the heart), dementia, hearing, intestines, eyes, thyroid and skeleton problems too. It can also be observed that they have a flat facial profile, an upward slant to the eyes, small ears, and a protruding tongue. Besides that, their eyes are further apart than normal and their growth rate is slow, hence being smaller sized than normal. It is still unknown why down syndrome would occur in random babies, but the risk of having a baby with down syndrome increases as a woman gets older. Down syndrome cannot be cured, however they may be able to live productive lives well into adulthood.

Both conditions (autism and down syndrome) ranges from mild to severe. This determines how slow in learning they would be, and whether they are able to live independently in future. For severe cases, they might not even know how to go to the toilet to pass motion or urinate, hence the need to wear diapers. Some may also need special medical attention, while others lead healthy lives. They can and do learn, and are capable of developing skills throughout their lives. But the severity of their condition would determine when they will reach these goals.

Conclusion

From this attachment, I have learned patience and perseverance. These children progress very slowly. Sometimes, the slightest sign of improvement can only be seen in months. However, it is important for us teachers to not be discouraged, to have patience, and to teach them as if they are doing well. We must also constantly encourage, support and keep them interested. This can be tiring at times, causing us to be exhausted at the end of the day. But it will all be worth it when the slightest sign of improvement can be seen. The joy of seeing them walk when they first came in not even able to crawl, the joy of hearing them talk when they first never knew how to even make a sound. The progress may be slow, but it can be very fulfilling and satisfying. This is especially fulfilling to me because I felt that I had a chance to serve others, which is why I chose this in the first place. It was a great opportunity to help those in need, giving our best and our all in order to help without expecting anything in return. We are not paid in anyway nor acknowledged with a certificate. I was also inspired by the full time workers there who does this five days a week, committing their lives to such a noble job. It is indeed not easy, hard work is required, it is exhausting, and the pay is not high. But they genuinely helped, giving the sort of love that carried the true meaning and do justice to the word ‘love’. Every child was special and was given special attention, none was neglected or looked down upon. It was indeed life changing and encouraging working at a place which has such great ethical and moral values.

Besides that, I have also learnt how to deal with children in general. Learnt of the proper ways to discipline them when needed, to not give in to their tantrums, and to be firm and strict at the right time. Children, even those with learning disabilities, are smart and they know whom they can take advantage of, whom is soft and would give in, whom they cannot mess with etc. Some parents were not even able to discipline their child, but in the centre, they observed and we taught them how to. This helped me to handle children better, making it easier for me to work with children now.

All in all, the course completed according to the original plans and objectives. Besides, we gained and learned more than expected. It was indeed a memorable time and I would like to pay them visits every now and then to catch up with the workers, the children, and to help whenever needed. It was also a pleasure to have met these people and we are now friends.

this is LONG overdue. it's cause i didn't wanna type twice bout the same thing (you'll get what i mean soon..). well you see, there's a degree in the International Medical University (IMU) in bukit jalil called the Bachelor of Pharmacy. it's a 4-year degree, done locally, all at IMU bukit jalil. there's another degree called the Master of Pharmacy, 3 years in IMU and 1 year in Strathclyde. though one's 'bachelor' and the other 'master'...they said it's the same..just that the 'master' one is double the price of 'bachelor'. the odds..

anyway! the 'bachelor' degree..is a busy one. BUSY. once u're in it, there's NO TIME for anything else. so happen, this BUSY degree, is the one i'm involved in. :) it's a good thing, really.. lol. so! IMU was kind enough to give us a break from our degree...DURING our semester 6 break (yes, they stole our break..they didn't give us time off from our classes..lol) which were bout 8 weeks..we were to do something we always wanted to do - learn salsa, climb mount KK, go to china and learn chinese medicine..anything at all. it doesn't have to be related to pharmacy. i got excited when i 1st heard bout it! many came to mind!

it was one random day, celine and i wanted to hang out. we didn't wanna spend money unnecessarily, it was at night, and we didn't wanna go anywhere far. all we wanted was to spend time with each other, chill, chat. DPC came to mind. it's a pretty nice place to chill at night (only!). during the day, it's like a desert.

so! off we went. DPC is FAR from my place but i had to pick celine and it's near her place, hence, 'somewhere nearby'. we had a really good time. spent bout 3 hours there. just chatting. it was really nice. i liked it. if only KL had more of these parks that are safe to go to during the night. i like chilling at parks. with nature, with a friend, no need of mamaks/malls. so much healthier and don't even need to spend! me likes! :D sadly, most parks in KL is unsafe at night. sigh..

that's the thing bout s'pore that i really envy. there, they have many of these sortta places where families, couples, friends etc chill at night. till wee hours of the night. and there's nothing unhealthy bout it. unlike here, night life meaning pubs, clubs, mamaks.. in s'pore, it's a lil, old school..they play kites at night. awesome!!!

as you can see, we just parked at the side of the road to enjoy the view. soon after, the guard rounding came to chase us away. haha.

daddy got a night free stay at the legend international water homes..a luxurious 5 star resort. so we went there as a family for the weekend. there's nothing to do at PD. but it's ok. the resort itself will keep us occupied. ;)

before that, we decided to stop by bagan lalang. years ago when we went there for a family holiday, they were advertising these homes..where they were gonna build houses on the sea, like 1km out of land. it was during the tsunami period. daddy and mommy always doubted anyone would buy it.

they did it! not only that, they did the whole area there, it was, pretty!

we went to check them out. it seems, you can buy the house, then allow it to be rented out as a resort. so tourist like us can stay. RM600 per night. whoa.

SO...we headed to our hotel..

didn't look all that great. but we heard we had our own personal pool.. we got excited!

amazing isn't it! we were excited all right! it was our first time staying in such a luxurious place! the best part??

SO...jov and i went down to the main pool, for there, we found the sun. :) before that, however, we took a lil walk around to check out the place..

after that, we headed out for dinner. couldn't find any chinese food around, so we ended up eating KFC. hmmm. oh! we also saw the crescent moon! it was oddly HUGE and LOW! and it was RED!

at night, 3 of us decided to go downstairs for a walk...the night view..

then it was chilling in the room till it was time to sleep..

i got a lil bored and went out to enjoy the view...and guess what i saw..

full moon! odd. it was a crescent just a few hours ago! i started thinking a lot. the moon doesn't turn full from crescent in hours! something is wrong... dad and i got really..quiet. then suddenly dad got excited..

dad : it's an eclipse!!! is there an eclipse tonight?!

me : er i don't know?

anyway as soon as i got internet connection (the next day..), yes, it was an eclipse and we saw it without even realizing! damn! should have watched it turn full! it would have been so beautiful!

anyway, next morning, someone (the only one with V in the name..) woke up pretty early and took some shots..

then, jov and i went for breakfast (only for 2..).

when we came home..

daddy was watering the plants! -.- he must have missed his garden..

then...erm...mummy and daddy saw something they liked... shhhhhhh!

oh damn. the food was GREAT! and CHEAP! too bad we only found it when we're leaving!

that's it! i liked the trip. it's been a while we went holiday-ing as a family. since i left high school. so, 5 years. cuz siblings and i will never have holidays at the same time. and during end of the year, there's always camp and christmas preparation etc. so, going out together as a family, is just, nice. there's just something bout, family.. :)

yes mummy's s'porean hence making me half, if there's even such a thing. ANYWAY! nat, ebi and keanping decided to go s'pore during the grand s'pore sale, shopping of course. funny how s'poreans come to m'sia to shop, and m'sians to s'pore to shop. i, however, didn't wanna spend all my time there on solid shopping.

1. i'm broke.

2. i don't fancy..shopping. (cuz i'm broke!)

3. i prefer to spend time with people..that's fascinating. :)

so i took a step of..courage. i went to s'pore 3 days earlier than the others. alone.

it was my 1st time travelling alone. took the bus from 1 utama to novena (near grandma's). i thought i could handle it myself so when uncle alex (mum's bro) offered to pick me from novena to send me to grandma's, i rejected. independent lil girl..i was taught to be. novena was just a few roads away from grandma's. i should be able to catch a bus..just gotta ask around. when i arrived, decided to follow the signboard leading to grandma's..so i know i'm on the right side of the road to catch a bus. walked..and walked.. no bus stop in sight. after like, 20 minutes, i gave up. wanted to take a cab instead. walked on. no cab in sight. finally after bout 40 minutes, i decided to call uncle alex for help. cuz i had no idea where i was. and the hot afternoon sun, luggages and laptop wasn't making things easier!

soon after, uncle alex came, with aunty of course! ah i was thankful they were free and living nearby! they did more than i asked for tho. sent me to grandma's, stayed back to chat with me, catch up, and offered to drop me at wherever i was going next, which is at the other end of s'pore!

off we went to pick my cousin, jasmine, and they dropped us at the bottle tree park.

jas told me bout it. and i decided to visit cuz i've never been there. it's new and only available in aussie it seems. s'pore flew it in and, it's now, growing there. wow.

besides that, the park is a lil, pretty.

there's a fishing pond too...

yes fishing is very popular in s'pore. my cousin himself is a professional fisherman. (no the above dude is not my cousin) i'm talking bout huge fishes, deep sea fishing, storms. one of the most well-known rod maker in s'pore.. i should get him to make one for me! :D

prawning have also recently been very popular there.. very expensive too! bout S$25 per hour. damn!

later, you can even BBQ them and eat them...fresh!

after that, we headed to marina barrage. another new place which i've never been. by then, it was getting dark.

it's actually a barrage. hence the name..

but they did up the place so nicely...with...

service was good. pretty anglicany for a methodist church! haha. then again, maybe cuz the only methodist church i ever went to was DUMC..hmm..

after service, went to uncle alex's house while aunty prepared lunch to bring over to grandma's. it's a sunday thing. to keep grandma companied.

ahh it felt so good being in their house again. it's been a while! i used to stay there when i was a toddler! swimming, climbing on the beds, swinging down that fire-brigade pole from the bed down to the floor, good food (omg i remember the sushi, tiramisu...ahh! i miss it!)...

after lunch at grandma's and more chats with uncle alex (i always enjoy the chats!)..i headed down to harbourfront to meet chongjyn. we were going to sentosa! :D

this, is the new IRs (integrated resorts) of sentosa..where the universal studio is also at! reminds me a lot bout genting tho!

the casino, which is owned by the same company as genting's. didn't get to go in cuz chong and i didn't bring our passports along.

finally, i'm there. S$70 per entry. crazy! if only i was rich..

it was there, chong and i smelled something very, sweet! thought it was coming from the choc shop.. true enough. but we started to wonder..how can it smell like choc when all is wrapped? then we found the source of the amazing scent.. the small door at the choc shop led to something more..

S$7 for the smallest bag. damn that's one expensive popcorn. but we bought it anyway. we couldn't resist. it smelled so good!

omg it tasted AWESOME. the best i ever had in life. like no other. it made our local popcorns taste like..plain flour. it was so good, and rich with caramel, we spent the WHOLE DAY in sentosa, and couldn't finish it. i even managed to bring it home for my family to try...simply cuz it was too good to not be shared (tho it was all soft by the time it reached their mouth..) and we just couldn't eat anymore..

next, of course, the beach..

sentosa's beach is ONLY meant for angmohs..for only they can afford it. haha.

out of the blues, chong and i ended up sitting by the sea..(yea, SEA. not beach)...listening to the waves, allowing the strong wind to slap on our cheeks, and watching the ships that doesn't seem to be moving..

and it was there..we sat for bout..an hour? just chatting. it was nice. for a moment, we forgot bout time, and that the purpose of going to sentosa was to look around.. :)

and then we walked a lil more..

we left when the sun began to set..

had dinner, till late, and we headed home. it was a great day. :)

next day!

uncle alex brought me out for my favourite...japanese buffet! :D

we spent almost 4 hours together, just chatting and eating. now this is what i call, quality time. :)

then it was time for me to meet up with my fisherman cousin! :D mr danny. hang out with him a bit, walked miles with my heels! all over to find a book..which we never found. -.- then it was dinner time, with a few other cousins!

then, the girls decided to head to 'ink' bar. jas said they have the best jazz music. i wanted live music, so why not? besides, s'pore's best drummer was there..

it was...very jazzy. i don't know how many kindda jazz there are, but i know there are a few. and this isn't the kind i like. i like the one with vocals. :) but it was still cool cuz it was live music and it was with my cousins! :)

and that's it! 3 days past so fast! nat, ebi and keanping arrived. they stayed at a tiny room at a hotel right beside my grandma's! (it was a coincidence! how awesome!)

no pictures allowed inside so...damn! it was SO BEAUTIFUL! then again, maybe cuz it's my 1st time in a casino. it was neat, very high class, professional, not crowded, and very beautiful. the design, everything! it felt very, high class. i liked it! it was a waste that i couldn't take any pictures! i just stood there and stared at the view for a while, just admiring it since i don't have a picture to admire instead. anyway, this is how it looks like.. (google images! :D)

played once. minimum bet, S$25. that's RM60! and i got back ANOTHER S$25. wheeee!!! :D

so happen that day, was the grand opening ceremony of the hotel. so there were like 9768987678 man in coats, lining up to go in. big cars, big people. and there were people hanging by the hotel too!

no idea what was gonna happen but we didn't stay to watch cuz it kindda took forever, it's hot, and there were too many people... plus staring upwards like that for hours could be very, tiring.

then we headed to the esplanade. it's sortta like an art centre thing.

so, other than that, the 3 days nat, ebi and keanping came, we were just shopping. solid shopping. pictures not needed. i didn't plan to shop. but, i ended up buying a few stuffs..

they were good buys! :D i can't help it! i'd be a fool not to buy them! all these, S$70 only! (RM160..oh damn! that's not..lil.) :) however, the most expensive ones, are not for me.. :( haha.

finally on the last day, i didn't have breakfast cuz they planned to meet up after breakfast. damn. i thought i had to go out to find food, alone. :( when i woke up, grandma told me she made breakfast for me! (she never did the past few days cuz she knows i'm always out!)...awww god is good!

then aunt also cooked fried rice for all of us! where halfway during our journey back, during one of the stops, we ate.

got home safe and sound, very happy and satisfied. i had a great time with my relatives...the first time hanging out with them. shopping was good, and it was just nice hanging out with all. i was, indeed, well taken care of..

after all the waiting for a year, he came again! definitely didn't want to miss him though i've been to most of his concerts last year. however, i could only make it for one. the last one. it was at FBC subang. thank you for temaning me! :)

this time, beau didn't come alone. david story came with him. as in, david-story. that's his name. when i first saw it i thought the theme was bout david's story. haha. so anyway! they did a joint concert. it was my first time to FBC subang. it's new and gosh it's big! churches these days are so rich!

then beau came on stage..with his gadgets of course!

beau did the exact same concert as he did last year. so everything was pretty familiar. not only could i sing along, i could even tell what was coming next. the advantage of that was i knew when to record - the best parts. since i didn't get the chance to record last year, i was pretty satisfied with my recording this time! so here, my favourites.. ;)

finally, they sung a few songs together..it was good!

also, saw a few familiar faces, those from connexion. ah the memories of connexion..i used to join them every week. but it's been 1 year plus since i last went..maybe someday..i'll join them again..? :)

brought a few friends this time..and they really enjoyed it. i'm glad! the best part bout beau's concert, he talks bout how god works in his life..it's encouraging. :)

2 kids, candies and marbles.

there was a lil boy and a lil gal. lil boy (B) has a bag of marbles. lil gal (G), a bag of candies.

G : if you give me your bag of marbles, i'd give you my candies.

B : *shakes head* (continues to play with his marbles he's so in love with)

after a while, lil boy started thinking bout the bag of candies. he started to desire for it. he then went to the lil gal..

B : ok if i give you my bag of marbles, you'd give me your whole bag of candies, ya?

G : *says happily* sure!

lil boy went to where he kept his marbles. dug the bag, took out one - his ultimate favourite. he hid it in his pocket..and tied the bag containing the rest of the marbles. he went over to the lil gal again and handed it over to her. she did the same.. and they were both very happy.

at night....

lil gal slept very well. with a smile on her face. lil boy couldn't sleep at all. he was awake all night........

........wondering if the lil gal gave him all her candies......

ever doubted that god can work in something we cannot handle? maybe it's cuz we haven't surrendered our ALL to him. try surrendering fully to him, whatever it is, and you don't have to worry anymore..

we need only to be still, and let him show us, who he is..

that's celine. the one who brought me to camp 5. she's now a member and qualified to belay people, after going for some trainings. she's now able to bring in first timers for free (but have to pay for the equipments which comes to bout RM20 per person). so that day she brought benroy and me (the 1st 2 people she's bringing in). but i wasn't prepared to climb - mentally since she told me like pretty last minute. so i said i'll follow but won't climb. so she brought her best friend, wan ching.

for hours, i stood around, watching them climb. they started with the simplest walls, and finally to the 15m one. highest and of an upper level. after they climbed, celine asked me to climb. by right i'm not allowed to cuz i didn't pay for anything - the equipments etc. i didn't even register myself. so i refused cuz i don't wanna get caught, i didn't warm up, this is my 1st time, and i didn't want the 15m wall to be my first! i mean, which noob starts with the 15m wall?! but she kept insisting and it was really tempting so..why not? hee.

i wasn't even dressed to climb! haha.

my 1st round was pretty good for a noob like me. no slips, no breaks, no rest and according to celine - "good!", benroy - "wah very pro ar!", and wanching - "u very fast! faster than benroy!". ok la, i should be satisfied..aye? *prouds* :) it has been years since i worked out!!

after a while, i was asked to climb again. this time, david (guy who used to work there, celine met him there) was to belay me.

i didn't make it this time. forgot my chalk bag and hands were too slippery. went half way and couldn't continue. came down. but this dude refused to let me down cuz he wanted to get some info outta me (my age). it wasn't nice being bullied and hung there for what seemed like forever...i was whining and shaking my legs like a baby.

so we were there for 7 hours. long day. but it was fun just being with these kids. :) oh and i haven't used my free-first-timer pass. whe! ;)

when i first heard bout it, was pretty excited. never been to one before. since i was free at that time, decided to go, without knowing who would be there. yes, that excited. we stayed at YMCA, ipoh. my only worry was whether it's clean. the last time i went for a church camp thinggy, the place we stayed at was so dirty.. all of us were having cough, blocked nose, sinus, and sneezing the moment we stepped in. the toilet door couldn't even close properly. ah church and budgetted stuff. when it comes to accommodation, i need 2 things. cleanliness and high pressured water. (unless it's a jungle then i'm prepared) YMCA, thankfully, had these. so i was satisfied. the place's old. but clean. that's most important.

we travelled to and around ipoh with the church van. pastor paul monash drove.

the whole conference was at st peter's..

there were a few workshops to choose from. Ministering Through Music, Sound Operator Training, Photography, and Movement in Worship (lyrical dance). all of us from st paul's (my church) chose Ministering Through Music, except celine, who went for Movement in Worship, really suited her.

for the workshop i went to, hmm..i felt like i was in a singing class. he was just teaching us song after song. songs from all over the world, of different languages, as old as 500 years. exposing us to these songs, and how beautiful and meaningful yet simple it is. erm ok, i wasn't expecting that. thought he was gonna teach us how to lead/make singing sessions on sunday services more effective/personal. haha but it's ok..

so anyway. ipoh. food. sadly, i ate nothing nice. everything i ate sucked. everytime it's meal time, it's either we went to a sucky place cuz there's no locals to guide us, or some locals didn't know what's nice and so i ordered something that sucked. i lost hope in ipoh food.

so anyway! the conferences ended pretty fast and it was time to head home. before that, pastor took us for a lil joyride..showing us where they planted the ipoh taugeh, and brought us to his brother's to look at something they had...

the guy was a hunter. hunted the mum of 2 baby wildboars. so he brought home these 2 kids and it's been 3 years now. they were as big as i am! one named easter and one christmas. i'm supposing that's when they will be slaughtered! lol.

that's bout it! i'm looking forward to my next worship conference..this saturday! :) may i learn TONS!

during 'how to do a presentation' workshop in school today, we were asked to prepare a 5min presentation. after 45min of stoning, my group and i decided on doing this topic. thanks to me! muahaha! and so i did the whole set of slides in 10minutes. mogan had the honor to present it.

since mel was back and her mum was on leave, they wanted to sing k - family tradition. this time, i'm invited. since both their cars were down..i went to pick them up.

went to 1u neway at 11am and sang till 2:30pm. it was cheap! RM12 per person for everything - karaoke, lunch (good food of your choice and a drink), and a free salad buffet (fruits, salad, soup etc). pretty worth it! next time if i wanna have lunch at 1u, should just go to neway. much more worth it. besides, you have the whole room to yourself!

ben was to leave to kampar to do his degree for 3 years. was supposed to leave on a thursday, then postponed to friday, saturday and finally, sunday. that's how much he didn't wanna leave. the day came anyway. decided to spend his last day with him. after church, went for lunch and to his place till he left for kampar at bout 8pm (he was supposed to leave at 4pm! postponed again..).

didn't really get to spend time with him tho. cuz it was the day his parents shifted all the things from their johor's house to here. a 1 ton lorry came and it was a day of carrying things into the house and arranging them. at the same time, melissa and her lil boy came too. my 1st time meeting her lil boy josh. i fell in love with him even before meeting him!

oh i love him! grabbed every chance i had to play with him. tried my best not to stick to him tho cuz everyone else missed him too. hee. the thing i like most bout him's he's not clingy to his mum, and he doesn't cry for nothing. good kid!

when everything was shifted from the lorry to the house, everyone was tired and we went for dinner.

while waiting for our food, limelight was on baby josh. he was entertaining us with his cuteness.

it came to a point when i kept making faces to him cuz he was sortta sitting right opposite me. and then he tried to imitate me, but instead, ended up doing the 'kek' (stress) action.

and everyone laughed! which made him really happy.

so we kept saying 'kek' and did the action to prompt him to do it again, where he did a gazillion times! lol.

oh he's soooo cute!!!

and then the hour came when ben had to leave. for real this time.

[26.5.2010] shopping!!!

in a lil campus known as I-M-U, there exist 6 lil girls. after every semester, we'll reward ourselves with a lil shopping therapy at sungei wang. it's where the cheapest clothes, bags, belts and accessories are. till recently, we found that times square is even cheaper! ever since, times square it was! i must admit tho, we're making more frequent visits. no more once every semester. it's now at least twice. hee!

as usual, we went. this time, much earlier, wanting to eat the famous porridge at petaling street first.

RM5 per bowl! what you see, is ALL the ingredients. there's none underneath! and yau char guai is separately charged. *swears!*

it sucks. felt like i was eating plain porridge. ingredients were pathetic. not worth it at all! cost price probably 10cents! my mum's porridge is soooo much better! with TONS of century eggs, mince pork, more pork, and more century eggs! ahh awesomeness. i miss my mum's porridge! MA!!! when u gonna cook it again? :)

after that we headed to our targeted destination. took monorail. here are some random pictures that had NOTHING to do with us shopping. doesn't make sense to take 'shopping pictures'.

[22.5.2010] Joseph & jamie's wedding photo shoot

as we all know, J&J are getting married! 3 july's the day. usually, people'd approach the wedding planners for those typical photo shoots. i don't really like them. so, cliche! just like modern couples these days, J&J had a great idea..they asked us friends to take pictures of them instead! save money, more fun, and better pictures! haha.

drea was the wedding planner. her face saying "trust me!". lol.

after surveying a few good-photo-taking-spots, drea decided on bukit jalil park. we arrived there at 7am and started our mini hike. (we reached our destination sweating!)

very beautiful place! humongous too! with lakes, bridges, jogging treks, play grounds, trees, huge fishes! and lots of land!

there's also an area where the places are designed in such a way that it gives you the atmosphere of countries around the world.

after we reached our spot, it was preparation time!

my role that day was nothing big. i'm no professional photographer and DSLR i own not. so my job was to take pictures of 'the-making-of'. hee. it's all bout what happened behind the camera. the preparation, etc. there were tons of photographers, with all sorts of stuns to get the best shot..

throughout the shoot, J&J were being jokers. they laughed all the time! especially when they were shooting the video..they had to 'act' some scenes..which only made them burst out in laughter. ah the joy of getting married. :)

what's a photoshoot without some cheekiness... ;)

all in all, i had fun! it was a great opportunity to try out ways to improve my photography skills. but damn. wish i had a better camera. with cool and awesome features. my pictures would be much better then! ahh.. wasn't satisfied with my 'performance' this time. could have done better. hmmm.. i shall work on it.

ANYWAY!!! ahhhh both of them are getting married!!!!!!! it's this saturday! weddings. always sweet. makes me smile. :)

1. Passed my semester 6! thank God! now enjoying my 8 weeks holiday (such a long holiday cuz we were required to do a 5-week elective and it's our last holiday. next sem no more holidays. aih..). finishing my 5th week. cuz i passed, there was a mini celebration where i was treated to a movie and awesome food!

food was worth it, price reasonable, taste good, servings big. the company, awesome! we had so much fun, one even suggested to screw the movie eventho we've bought the tickets! hee. thank you!!!! :)

2. Been watching too many movies at the cinema. came to a point where i watched even movies i didn't enjoy/like. till i got movies-phobia.

friends : eh let's watch movie!

me : OHHHHH NO! NO NO NO NO! NOOOOOOOOOO!

but well, some say, it's all bout who's sitting beside you, not bout what's on the screen...aye? hee! the good part bout it..most of it is..free. hee! thank you!!!

3. went to the rooftop of 1 utama with celine and benson. my 2nd time. just to watch the sunset. celine dragged us there.

4. joe and jamie are getting married! woot! helped them to make wedding favors. cutting, gluing, sticking, tying. took the whole day!

5. tried on a dress at nichii which i liked. but it was RM80. darn. and my scars doesn't allow me to wear such hot stuff. sigh..

6. spent 12 hours at KL shopping with the girls. times square, sungei wang, pavillion, lot 10, etc. before that, went to petaling street for their famous porridge. RM5. nothing in there but porridge. not worth it! nothing great! never going there again!

awesome place. i like it. the atmosphere, it's near home, cheap nice drinks (coffee for only RM2!), live band, lil crowd. my new favourite hang out spot. thanks to my mommy! haha. she claims it's now her favourite hang out spot too! aiks. *time to change my hang out spot!*

[19.4.2010] babysitting

it was a few days before my finals and i was no where near prepared.

"ya sure! jann and jov are on holidays now!" was all i heard from the conversation between my mum and wei ling. correction: i was on study break. not holidays. the next thing i know, i was told that jov and i will be babysitting esther and rachel the next day. ohh excitement! at first. then i realized i had to really study cuz i was running out of time. hence, my plan:

"to have them over, but i'll be studying while keeping an eye on them as they are busy playing with their toys"

right.

when they arrived, it was my 1st time interacting with them, because the last time i met them during the gathering, i was focused on nathan, didn't get to spend time with the girls as esther was sleeping and rachel was crowded around by everyone. anyway, my nieces are SO DAMN CUTE! they speak well, very intelligent, obedient, disciplined and they have an accent! oh i love disciplined kids!

the 1st things that got their attention were the pets. hamsters, rabbit, doggy, fishes..we had them. allowed them to feed the fishes, and say hi to turffy (our golden retriever). they were not able to play with turffy as he was too big. he'll get excited and jump all over them. haha. then it was time to allow them to play with the play-able pets. hammy and rabbit.

they were sooooooooooo cute. you won't get what i mean till you watch them... hee.

they got so sweaty after that, so we thought, we should let them settle down a bit, though they seemed like they could play with the hammy forever! they can repeat the same action for a million times without getting bored, as you can see in the video above.

a while ago, i accidentally downloaded a barbie cartoon. i didn't know how i downloaded it. but i kept it anyway, just in case it come in handy one day. and so it did! played it for them.. as they sat and watch, i thought, a good chance for me to study. i ended up watching the whole cartoon for 2 hours with them.

after that, was a trip to the TTDI park nearby.. i, however didn't go. cuz i felt guilty for not studying. so i stayed home and tried to study.. to no avail. by the time i settled down to study..they came home..

then we gave them a bath and it was play time. brought out all their toys..

she talked NON STOP!!!! all her stories! omg.

[18.4.2010] my nieces!

wei ling's my cousin. studied medicine at UK and worked there. met her man, a UK guy there, and got married. migrated there and built a family. 5 years later, she decided to bring them home to KL..where i was able to meet them..for the 1st time! imagine my excitement!

they made a family reunion specially just to meet them.

this is esther. 5 years old.

and this is rachel. 4 years old.

however, esther was pretty tired so she slept quite early, leaving only rachel with us. they weren't shy and were able to mix around with us without any problems. rachel was talking a lot! oh gosh! they were sooo cute! they had an accent..and it made them even cuter. they spoke well, talked a lot, and acted more mature than their age. UK kids. haha.

since there were only 1 kid (rachel) and a million people around her, i didn't bother to fight for her attention. instead, i played with ethan, my nephew. he's just few months old. i've never played with him before cuz he was too young and always sticking to the mum. so it was my 1st time playing with him. at the same time nathan (another nephew) was near so i spent my whole night with ethan and nathan.. it was..awesome! love them both so much! ahhhhh! if only i could babysit.. hee.

[17.4.2010] phileo's dance competition

andrea, celine and sheryl formed a lil dance crew named phileo and joined their 1st dance competition as a crew.

it was at klang parade. decided to go and support them. ~~tho it's a bit erm, far. hee.~~ 1 hour journey. reached there and had lunch, then it was preparation for the competition.

i helped by being celine's make up artist ~~(and driver, supporter, advisor, servant..ish)~~! haha! my first time putting make up for someone! and i was pretty proud of my masterpiece! celine liked it too! whe! well you see, i only started putting make up on myself last year for AFC's camp. and that's for..6 days? i'm not a make up person. i don't put on make up. i don't do on others. so what i did on celine's eyes..very good for a first timer! well..i thought so. hee.

then it was waiting for their turn to go on stage, 19th out of the 20 groups. i thought most of the teams were terrible. potential dancers..bout...1 or 2 teams maybe? in order to get into finals..there's only 1 thing you should focus on - synchronization. anyway, their turn came...phewwit!

after the last group, as usual, the judges needed time to decide on the results.

then it was results-announcing time!

sadly, they didn't get into the finals. my personal opinion was cuz they were not synchronized. but it's ok. more importantly is the experience and take-home lesson learnt. and of cuz, the fun of it!

being there to support the competition, made me miss dance. i even thought of bringing my 30 people of class mates to dance our 10 minute orientation hip hop dance for a random small dance competition. simply for fun! who knows we might end up getting into the finals! haha. this is the video of my production 3 years ago. all dancers were 1st timers and i trained them from scratch, like, how to groove to the music, how to walk with style etc. so i was pretty proud of the result..cuz i thought it was great!

finally, when all was over, we hang out a bit there since it was a mall we've never been to, then left...

what amazing news! weddings are always amazing news! shows that we've all grown up! so many weddings these days. one after another. then it'll be babies. ahh. we're no more kids. i love weddings. they're sweet, amazing, one of the best things in life! but as i grow older..weddings become a lil depressing..as i wonder when's mine. i'm still in the tunnel and i see no light... long way more!

but yes, i still love weddings. it still makes me smile. once a while though, it makes me stone. ANYWAY!!! this time it was adrian and erin's. the day before, some of us went over to church to help out with the decorations..

then, it was the wedding at brickfields methodist church. i thought it was..beautiful.

the next day, it was the wedding dinner. ~~which made me feel more single than ever (where's my date!)~~ and i realized a few things..

1. i'd cry when my parents give their speech. hence i shouldn't wear make up. ha.

2. mum and dad'll cry on my wedding day.

3. my wedding would be full of tears and laughter. a mixture of emotions.

ok my posts are really delayed. hence the lack of excitement while blogging bout it. cuz by now the excitement would have dieded! ok i'll try to sound excited..

OMG!!!!!! (lol!) i've got my own car!!! dreamt bout having my own car since a kid! now, finally, it happened. it took a while tho. it all started when i found out that my next semester doesn't have many classes. so i could shift outta vista. if so, i would need a car to travel to uni when there's classes. hmm..got me thinking quite a bit cuz, this is not like getting a water bottle that i need..a car cost..a lot.

went home, and brought it up to mum.

jann : ma, next sem not many classes cuz it's research year. so can shift out of vista already..

mum : oh? yea then shift out la! then get a car. your father keep telling me he wants you to shift back home and get a car instead! and you're always using my car on weekends! you think i don't need to use ar?!

jann : oh??? reallyyyy????!!! (YESSS!!!!!!!!)

hahah. i started searching for the cars i would like to buy. ~~went to naza world and checked out the prices of BMs, merc, mazda, lamborghini, ferrari etc.~~ came to a dilemma of myvi or saga. did more research and lots of surveys. took me months.

finally i decided on saga.

1. it's RM8k cheaper with the same specs.

2. it looks much cooler. not a girlly car like myvi!

3. myvi's a "daddy's-gal car".

4. myvi's butt looks like a hyppo's ass!

5. saga has a booth.

6. saga's sound system beat flat myvi's.

7. saga's more stable.

8. those who bought sagas had no complaints. and was very happy bout it. good buy, they said. very good buy.

went and test drove the auto one and omg it sucked! totally under powered. hated it. so took the manual. booked it. had ben to accompany me. thanks! the guy i dealt with was good. a recommendation from a friend. got quite a lot of freebies too..

1. sun visor (large)

2. touch & go RM50 (he gave me cash to buy it myself..which i didn't cuz i already had one)

3. steering lock (useless tho..bought another one which cost RM100)

4. runner fees RM80

5. full tank petrol

6. tinting voucher RM200 (which i didn't use..cuz car already came with tinting..)

1 week later, it came! but i wasn't ready. fixed deposits issues. finally when i grabbed hold of all that cash, made my downpayment. RM39k.

next delay was the number. dad insisted i get 8001 cuz it's our 'family number'. all 5 of us, our phone numbers end with 8001 and mum's car's 8001. all future new cars into our family should then be 8001 too. i thought it was silly, unnecessary, and a waste of money. didn't wanna pay RM210 extra just for a number. i don't believe in such things. but dad continued to push me, and wanted to pay for it too. finally i gave in. so, had to wait a bit for the number. when all was done.. i went and collect it with mum..

almost peed on my pants when i went and collect it.. excited till shivered!

yes it's under my name. paid for it. where i got the money? PTPTN loan. interest free! hee!

reached 1000km few days ago and sent it for its 1st service at proton. RM186!! heck! and that's so called 'free service'. 1st 3's free. labor free. others got to be paid for.

besides that, loving it! feel so..independent! i can go wherever i want, anytime! no such thing as transport problems anymore, don't have to rely on anyone. enjoying and making full use of it. love driving. just one thing..petrol! it sucks me dry!

but still...OMG I HAVE MY OWN CAR! wheeeeeeee!!

[3.4.2010] desa park city

we girls wanted to hang out. instead of the typical 'yamchas', we decided to be a lil more..nature-loving. decided to go to desa park city to feed the fishes! at night! it's a beautiful place. the only thing i don't like bout it is that it doesn't have much trees. it's more cement than nature. not practical for a hot place like KL. it'll be awesome if it was winter tho! but if the weather's great, it's a sweet place! problem's, KL's always hot! hence us going at night..haha!

bought a loaf of bread and fed the fishes...drea was the most excited. it was her idea anyway. she loves feeding fishes! haha. me, on the other hand, don't fancy it as i've fishes at home since i was born. feeding fishes..can be done anytime! hee.

i didn't see the fun in this cuz..we couldn't even see the fishes! lol. we just threw the bread in, and watched it disappear. when a bigger fish jumps and fights for it, we go like.."whoa!!!! did you see that???!!! the bread disappeared the moment it touched the water!!!!". ahh city girls. hee.

after that was walking around, sitting on rocks and chatting till the whole place shut down. lights went off at 12am and the guards came to chase us off! but the chat was really good.
